Who we are

Rutaorea, Rohinari Marikahu Welfare Association is comprised of members of the population residing in or in the vicinity of the villages Rutaorea, Rohinari and Marikahu in the West ‘Are’Are part of the Malaita Island, Solomon Islands.

What we do

The aims of the RRMWA are to support the local population in improving living standards through community-led projects, providing support to local community leaders and aiding to raise educational standards across all generations.

Our objectives

To support local communities in improving educational outcomes
To support local communities in developing key life and employment skills
To encourage and assist local communities in the creation of income-generating activities
To support local communities in developing key infrastructure such as power supply, water supply and sanitation and health facilities
To support preservation of local language and aspects of local culture and help ensure these are passed onto the next generations
To establish and maintain cooperation and flow of information with other similar groups
To facilitate cooperation and collaboration with governmental agencies and aid donors

We work together with the local population to empower and encourage everyone to see themselves as active protagonists in charge of their future.
